How much time will it take to register a proprietorship company in Tamilnadu?

Lalitmohan from chennai  just left his job amonth ago to start a tech company with few of his passionate friends. He registered his company in just five minutes sitting at his home. Curious to know how?

Welcome to the new genre, gone are the old days that business is only of heir apparent. Now with big IT companies already flooded job market, there is a sudden growth and entrepreneur inside every young professional want to try his hands.

But still guidelines are vague.

After setting up all the necessary infrastructure you will come to the legal part – that’s registering the start-up. Legally registering a company is almost mandatory mainly because only with that the money transactions could be processed. Clients will give check only in the “company name” and though many of you knew this already, Lalit came to know this only after getting first project in fact, the client told it when Lalit gave his personal a/c details.

Whenever had transaction on ATM, Lalit saw a button called ”Current A/C”. It is natural as Lalit don’t know anyone doing business, he never tried to know what “Current A/C” means… Now he does as some of us.

But there is no clue to get it legally registered and he searched internet. Finally he concluded they have to go to a financial CA consultant to have a clarity. But the consultant asked the details briefly via phone and gave appointment after four days, also he included Rs. 2,000 as consultation fees and promised to take care of all heavy procedures (?!).

He Googled again… this time with patience. There were lot of pages giving lot of details about all the sectors He found a website http://www.msmeonline.tn.gov.in/

There is a button called “Online Filling” and a scroll down gave EM filing I and II.

EM means Entrepreneur’s Memorandum…

He always has doubt about Indian Government implementation of E-Governance. It’s natural fear… and his friends added CAT exam problems. They went to the Government office only to see a mid-aged lady giving a crispy speech “Our Chief Minister & IT minister gave this facility to enhance entrepreneurs by not frustrating them to travel from this office to that office for this process in the busy schedule of their valuable time. So note this website…” and she started to tell the same website name. They came out joking, she is campaigning for her party.

I don’t know that. But its true. He went to that website and filled the details. As his company is a proprietorship, he owns a PAN card & the business nature is service industry there were no complex areas. After giving submit button, another page opened with PDF file which contained a certificate on the first page and filled-in application form following. And it said the application form should reach the noted address in the same file within thirty days. He can print the first page and use it wherever necessary.
